My Thoughts: John Green is a literary genius. I had never read one of his books before, but I will definitely be adding more to my TBR list, which is growing faster than it goes down. The Fault in Our Stars is heart wrenching. I had to keep stopping because I was starting to cry and couldn't continue reading.
This book is so much perfection. I don't remember when was the last time I cried so much when reading a book!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree, everybody should read this masterpiece. I'm planning on finally getting a hardcopy and pestering all my friends to read it. So evil!

I love John Green, Paper Towns and Looking for Alaska are brilliant creations of his as well!
ReplyDeleteI definitely need to read more of his books! I keep seeing them in Chapters, so maybe next time I'm buying books :)
DeleteGreat review! I love John Green and his books. I first read Looking for Alaska for my YA Lit. course and I've been addicted ever since. An Abundance is a fun read and Paper Towns has been my favorite for awhile, but TFiOS is in a tie at the moment. I might need to do some re-reading. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's a really great book, I need to read some more John Green!
DeleteI have never heard of John Green and I'm from Indianapolis! I saw several magazine reviews on this book so I purchased. It was a fantastic read. The characters were well written and hugely relatable. I laughed and cried throughout this story and loved Hazel. I read it so quickly that I can't wait to read again. And again. I also can't wait to read more from John!
ReplyDeleteHazel is such an awesome character! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much! Don't worry too much about not having heard about him before, I'm sure Indianapolis is a big place :)
DeleteI have never read one of John Green's books, but I rarely hear anything that isn't just completely positive. I want so much to read this book, but just knowing that there is heartbreak coming tends to scare me away. It's nice to hear in your review that the heartbreak is balanced well with laughter and happiness. I would love nothing more than to go pick up this book right now and start reading, but I have to admit to being a little scared. I am going through stuff right now that is hard and sad, and I don't know if there is enough happiness to help me through the heartbreak in the end. Sigh! I will probably end up losing the battle and reading this before too long! Thanks so much for your review!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear that you're going through some hard and sad times right now. *hugs* I hope things start to get better for you! You should read it because it's a really good story :)
DeleteThanks for the hugs! I actually put the book on hold this morning. I think, after reading several more reviews, that it will be completely worth it! Thanks again!
DeleteNo problem! I hope you enjoy it :)
DeleteI've read so much about this book on goodreads, full of awesome reviews! :) I'm dying to read this book!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your review, I hope I'll love the book as well =)
I hope you'll love it too!! It really is a good book! :)
DeleteI never cry when I'm reading. Never. This book, however, had me sobbing. I could not stop crying. It such a heart-wrenching story, like you said. I now bow down to John Green and his amasing skills.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could say I never cry, but I'm super emotional while reading..lol I get so engrossed in a good book that anything upsetting will trigger tears. This one was pretty bad for it though! He is amazing!
DeleteI am 37 years old, and I have never in my life sat down and read an entire book in one day... until I picked up The Fault in Our Stars. It's a good thing my husband was home that night, or I probably would have fed my kid popsicles and crackers for dinner. No way was I putting the book down until I turned the very last page. Amazing book! If I am ever elected president, this book is going to be required reading. For everyone.
ReplyDeleteYay!! I'm glad you loved this book enough to finish it!! John Green is pretty amazing!
