Waiting on Wednesday (37)

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly awaiting.

The Mark of Athena

Author: Rick Riordan

Exprected Publication Date: October 2, 2012

Publisher: Hyperion Books

Genre: Fantasy/Mythology

Annabeth is terrified. Just when she’s about to be reunited with Percy—after six months of being apart, thanks to Hera—it looks like Camp Jupiter is preparing for war. As Annabeth and her friends Jason, Piper, and Leo fly in on the Argo II, she can’t blame the Roman demigods for thinking the ship is a Greek weapon. With its steaming bronze dragon masthead, Leo’s fantastical creation doesn’t appear friendly. Annabeth hopes that the sight of their praetor Jason on deck will reassure the Romans that the visitors from Camp Half-Blood are coming in peace.
And that’s only one of her worries. In her pocket Annabeth carries a gift from her mother that came with an unnerving demand: Follow the Mark of Athena. Avenge me. Annabeth already feels weighed down by the prophecy that will send seven demigods on a quest to find—and close— the Doors of Death. What more does Athena want from her?
Annabeth’s biggest fear, though, is that Percy might have changed. What if he’s now attached to Roman ways? Does he still need his old friends? As the daughter of the goddess of war and wisdom, Annabeth knows she was born to be a leader, but never again does she want to be without Seaweed Brain by her side.

This is one of my favourite series (and my husband reads it with me!). We both love mythology :). I am excited to see what is going to happen when Annabeth and Percy reunite.

What are you waiting on this week?

  1. I can't wait for this novel either. Rick Riordan is my favorite Mythology author and even though these books are for younger kids I still adore them! Great pick!

    Here's my WoW

    1. I like to think that they aren't just for younger kids, because like the Harry Potter series Percy and Annabeth grow up in the books too :) But Rick Riordan is definitely god-like in mythology writing!

  2. I'm a little ashamed to say I still haven't read any books by Rick Riordan. I really need to read it soon. Great pick!
    Em @ A Beautiful Madness

    My WOW

    1. The Percy Jackson novels sit with my favourites on my top shelves of my bookcase. If you like Harry Potter and mythology you will almost definitely love Percy Jackson :)

We love to hear your comments! Let us know what you think! Thanks for reading and visiting!
We are now an Award free blog. We love getting them and appreciate that you thought of us, but we really don't have the time to commit for the requirements of getting them.
